since when does greys sing?

you get brownies...
but i didnt really like the brownies.

you see, the oreos were supposed to stay on the bottom.
because i used the mini ones they "floated"to the top.
well, j liked it. so i guess it wasnt a total fail.

and how about this singing grey's anatomy?
umm, what?

ill post the recipe tomorrow,
mainly because i have to find it again.
(and ill post on what i think would make it better.)

"bake alaska"

(this is what my husband told me to do in the kitchen.)

so i have a joke for all of you loyal blog readers...
what do you get when you mix
ice cream and oreos (and maybe some other things)?

ps- i think b&w makes it look more suspenseful.

well, ill find out at 10:30.
but, you can find out tomorrow night!
see you then!

ohh i've got this friend...

perfect title becauseee...
a) this is one of my favorite songs on the civil wars cd, and i mean fav! and
b) because i do have this friend named kelly in louisville and i went to the pie kitchen with her tonight.
see? pie.
disclaimer: this picture now looks weird but it was taken in a hurry because the pie kitchen was packed and im still not embracing my "im a blogger so i take pictures of every little thing!" life publicly yet.
ill work on it, just like im working on not cheating.

so when we went home (i know yall are sick of me talking about us going home... when will this girl ever stop talking about this darn trip... umm probably when i start talking about the next one.) i had to take our lovely green curtain that i had on my windows in high school that my mom made me that didnt fit this window but was just make shift (breathe)...
... so she could chop it up and add to the cute polka dot curtain that i got from peddlers mall because they are about 12 inches shorter than the sheers. well the parking lot light shines in my eyes (not j's because he sleeps like a rock!) while im trying to sleep so we needed a curtain... i promise this is a need and not a want. so my mom and i went shopping at ross on friday morning and i found this beautiful babe.
ehh the only weird thing (thank you kelly from nc, lindsey, katie, and lauren for questioning it friday night when i showed you- so here is your picture so you will believe me) is that it is a shower curtain. now i decided that i wouldnt really broadcast this, so dont spread the word. but this lovely shower curtain that matches really well was only $8.99. i should go into the curtain buying business because i have such great luck with it. (it will probably end since im bragging) but i think my curtain looks great and it covers the whole window and keeps the giant bright light out of my precious eyes. and just for the record, it doesnt feel like a shower curtain and its not plastic (coughkatiecough).
(and no its not going to be ironed... but you probably knew that)

call me if you need curtains and
a) arent ashamed of where they could come from or
b) what they might actually be.

uhhh ohhh

i know, i know... i missed two days of blogging.
i feel terribly bad. i woke up sunday morning and my first thought was "I didnt blog!". just imagine my horror. i had every intention of keeping it going while we were gone (obviously! i posted about bojangles) but we were so busy. and my excuse for yesterday is that we got back at 11:30 and my eyes wouldnt have stayed open for anything. so im begging yall to forget my little mishap... especially my sister in laws who said "ahhhh" (imagine the sound a first grader would say).
and speaking of those lovelys...

they both asked me while we were home if i ever received their cards. and i said "what cards?". well apparently they mailed them a long time ago and i had not gotten them yet. but the little cuties were sitting in the mailbox waiting for me when i got home.
nahh not my sisters, i wish though.

these guys...

the precious lilly is from Lauren (right) and the cute carolina girl is from Katie (left)
(who is still proudly yelling go heels... even after last night.)

these sweet cards were so encouraging. i couldnt be more thankful for the wonderful sisters that God has blessed me with. and i truly believe i am more thankful for them and all of my family and friends after being home this weekend. it was so good to see everyone and spend time with them.
we really enjoyed the sibling time we had friday night... matthew lauren katie josh and i and the two dogs were all piled up in katies bed talking and laughing until 2am. it was like old times again. j and i cherish those moments very much since we dont experience them that often. we are so thankful for who God has put in our life and being away from them all has made us realize that more.
we love them all very much!

i know you are asking where the pictures are from this weekend...
well i did a horrible job on taking some as L pointed out to me.
so this old picture of us at J's graduation and their cards will have to do for tonight.
now, i am off to bed... because i need 20 hours of sleep.

and remember i didnt forget anything this weekend. okay?

sweet southern food

oh how we have missed our dear bojangles.
i never thought it would be something that we missed,
but that amazing sweet tea and delicious honey mustard and those fries...
oh my heavens! love ittt.

so naturally, this is where we stopped for dinner last night in hickory.
and it was so good.
i know yall are sitting there thinking this girl has gone nuts.
call me when you live without bojangles and all those wonderful things mentioned above for two months. thats what i thought. we all agree its just that good.

our cups... :)

for now we are enjoying our family, friends and new haircuts.
enjoy the weekend my friends.
ps- ignore the unedited pictures. im on my sister in laws computer.

cd of the day, not picture of the day.

i know this is cheating and i will never do it again.
ill be good mom i promise.

the picture of the day is not one i took,
ehh but one i stole.
... no more stealing either. ill make a list.
but you can pretend i did take it, because i love this picture!

our new favorite band:
"The Civil Wars"
(im not sure if this is the album cover,
but i should be packing instead of researching so its going to have to do.)

please go download their cd "Barton Hollow" from itunes.
my money conscious husband suggested that we do it.
it is only $7.99 and totally worth it.

also, i want to be her. she is so pretty and has great hair.

we are leaving very soon my friends!

packing 101.

maybe this should be packing 201 because i feel as if we are pros by now.
here are our clothes... now they just have to make it into the bags.
(note trusty vera there)

j's essentials:
clothes
hat
sperry's(duhh)
deodorant
toothpaste/toothbrush
and many books... which he is in charge of packing.

m's essentials:
many shirts... because im indecisive
"b shoes" aka bedroom shoes
and several real shoes
workout clothes... 3.6 miles tonight! whoo!
monogram hat
scarfs
jewelry
makeup, hair stuff shower stuff, toothpaste/toothbrush
camera!
(i will say i wanted there to be a lot more dresses in my suitcase,
but i dont think the weather is going to allow)

and im sure im forgetting some things.
but obviously i need considerably more than he does!

oh... and i have been making a list of things to go home and come back all week.
(one of them being summer clothes! yayy!)
so now i need to put all of this in bags and become more organized.
and dont worry this adventure will be documented thoroughly.

see you friends in north carolina!

two days.

we are starting to love {maybe love is too strong... like... yea thats better} this city.
louisville has the most beautiful sunsets, so far.
and it is awesome for walking, which we are beasting by the way.

guess what we had for dinner?
and guess who helped?
we decided to make dinner fun tonight and MAKE a pizza.
(especially since tomorrow night is "eat whatever you find in the kitchen night" since ill be packing and cleaning.) it was actually really fun, after i got over my personal space issue in our small kitchen.
[note to self: get a bigger kitchen before we have kids. okay.]
before and after!
very yummy! this will have to be a tradition in our home.
and ill make double the crust this time.
as you can see it didnt quite make it to the edge of the pan.
(hint: the recipe is on the back of the pizza crust box)

our after dinner tradition is now to go walking.
and we have found some more houses we really like!
and we are discovering new routes.
...listen to my exercise terminology. so proud of myself!

two days until we are in that magical state.
(funny how i think its so magical now that we dont live there.
and i think ill get butterflies when we cross the state line...
or maybe just the city limits.)

no more catchy titles.

i made some friends today while taking my husband a snack.
okay they didnt really want to be my friends.
they flew away.

since you all guessed what the weekend holds for us... umm just kidding, ill tell you.
yes! we are going to a dogwood farm.
okay maybe not a dogwood farm, but definitely the dogwood state.
yay for north carolina!
we are super excited to spend time with our family and friends!
and the temperature on saturday is supposed to be in the 90's.
hollaaaa. i hear sundresses calling my name.
the only thing we are dreading is that lovely 10 hour drive. but it is totally worth it.
i just want you to know that the southern seminary campus is one of the most beautiful that i have ever seen. i mean besides meredith college of course.

the sad news of the night is that there is no bachelor anymore.
if i can just make it two months until may 23, i can have the bachelorette.
i feel the withdrawals setting in. this means more crafting. and boy do i have some for yall.
guess you'll have to come back!

Sunday, March 20, 2011

birrrdd.

we did nothing fun today. haha.
by that i mean we took a four mile walk to the seminary and back.
but sadly i didnt not take my camera...
although it was a good thing because i could barely bring myself back home.
anddd we were running late for church this morning so i decided to put my makeup on in the car. but to put your makeup on in the car you actually have to bring your makeup with you. so yes i went to church without makeup. God was teaching me to be humble and not proud. and that i dont need makeup even though i really think i do.
(if we were back in brazil i wouldnt have even thought about it. let's go back j!)

moral of the story:
im out of shape and have no memory.

this cute little picture has been printed out and framed and is currently sitting on our computer desk.
(i would take a picture, but i didnt charge the camera battery.
ill work on that before tomorrow.)

but a) i love it because i love birds and b) it reminds us to be adventurous in our home.
okay- so not necessarily "in our home"... but in this city.
during our walk tonight we discussed the fact that we live here and how awesome it is that we have only been married 9 months (on thursday! wow!) and we get to live somewhere completely different and be our own people. and this is big for us because we have lived in the same area our whole life. but we have been here for 2 months and havent done much. we dont want to be standing at Southern on graduation day and regret our time here. we want to live it to the fullest and experience kentucky for all its glory. we want to know our way around without a gps. we want to be able to have our family come visit us here and say "lets go to this quaint little restaurant we know." or "lets go to this place we know just because we live here and discovered it." besides "becoming louisville", we also discussed our future and what it looks like to us. but at the end of that conversation we stated that it is not up to us. God is in control and he has a plan so no matter what we plan ourselves, His plan is ultimate and we are just going to honor him with what he brings our way. we even pointed out houses that we like and different things we like about the houses. all in all it was a good walk, besides the fact that i am out of shape. we are "planning" on it being a regular thing because we do live in this wonderful city that believes in sidewalks and pedestrians. and our goal is to be able to walk to the pie kitchen. (kinda defeats the purpose, but they have really good pie.)

get ready. tomorrow's monday.
but guess what the end of this week holds for us?

if i make flowers, spring will come sooner.

saturday night is starting to be enchilada night. we had them again tonight and they were great! nathan also decided to join us for some hang out time.

i started this saturday the same way last saturday began.
i just slept a little later, which was wonderful.
and i made this list.
so here is the craft of the day.

you need:
a wreath
fabric
fabric glue
the link above will teach you how to make the flowers.
and trust me, your first flower will not be good.
but you will become a pro i promise.

i had to accept that my flowers werent going to look like theirs.
but that was okay, because they were MY flowers.
then you hang it!
(sorry these pictures are blurry.
my camera battery-both batteries-were dying
and i had no desire to take care of the problem)
and then you get carried away.
like so...
i decided to make flowers for my hair.
and flowers for my picture frame.

i secretly went around the house in my mind thinking of things i could put flowers on.

 so the total:
wreath: 3.99
fabric: 5.99
glue: 1.99

for a total of...
$11.97

such a inexpensive wreath.
you sure cant buy one for that.

i also picked up a few more things to do some crafts with.
ill post those later.
(just to keep your excitement going!)

and just a HUGE side note!
the sweet girl that had a birthday earlier this week,
got ENGAGED last night! (very sweet proposal too.)
her first words were "are you serious?" and then "did you ask my parents?"
how precious!
yayayay! i am so excited for her.
(she is the one on the right in the above picture.)

the craft bug has bitten me.

please tell me you would not love to make you some felt flowers.
perhaps for a wreath or a headband?

i have been in such a crafting mood today. my sister in law L would be so proud. i want to redo some furniture or make something. i need a cheap project. and by cheap, i mean cheaper than cheap.

now tell me you dont want to try these lovely suckers
im trying to think of where i could put them in our home.
i need a reason to make them.

so here are some pictures for today... we are going to eat with j's mentor and family tonight so im assuming i will not find something to shoot- and if i do i will post later tonight.

www.psimadethis.com

this necklace is genious! because i know you girls have many strands of pearls laying around. and you can easily find a brooch for a dollar or two at a thrift store.

www.pintrest.com
how precious! i actually have an open frame around here that has been longing for a purpose!

(thanks to Christin at Carolina City Girl
i have discovered Pintrest and cant stop looking!)

www.pintrest.com

OMG! i need this for my many necklaces.
(and i emphasize the word need for those of you who doubt me!)
world market has beautiful door knobs, for the record.

can you tell i really need a project?
well, i also need money to buy the materials.

i will make something this weekend.
and of course i will post pictures of the whole process.

im going to go get ready before my husband leaves me.
ps- i could not be more thankful that it is friday!

Thursday, March 17, 2011

you lie like penny in a parking lot at the grocery store.

if you havent heard the band perry yet you should really check them out. pretty catchy... and fun fact for the night, j knows the drummer- who used to be the drummer for december radio. check them out too! and what ever happened to shedaisy...
"i will, i will, i will be your everythinggg"

okay enough of the music review.
we gotta get down to it.

i took these lovely pictures on the campus of southern today.
as you can see the weather is gorgeous.

i was supposed to be meeting my husband to go for a walk when he got off at 6 and we were supposed to be making homemade pizza for dinner (maybe you will see pictures of that tomorrow night). well, he had called me a bunch of times but i didnt hear it and by time i got to my phone what do you know the radio tower was off because the battery had gotten too low. now you say, m why dont you charge your phone at night? you see, i do. my blackberry is so old i have to charge it twice a day. (i hear voices in my head saying "you need an iphoneee...") anyway- i couldnt call him so i went and parked by his car thinking he would eventually come to it while my phone charged. that is when i couldnt help but whip the camera out. to make a long story short, i finally got some battery and called him and its a good thing because he was calling to say he had to work late. (in fact he just walked in the door) side note- he was setting up all the sound stuff and things that go along with that because JD Greear and Shane and Shane will be here this weekend. you bet im going to hear that awesome preaching and hopefully some north carolina accent! and of course some amazing music!

i should go spend some time with my husband since we have an hour together tonight. but ill leave you with this amazing project. i really want to try these very soon.
and i like how her husband helped her. do you think mine will? mhmm...

its almost friday loves!

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

i smell spring.

just for starters, my husband surprised me with a redbox tonight. he picked "the next three days" and omg, oh my word, dear heavens this movie will keep you on your toes the whole entire movie. it is stressing me out. i had to leave the room. but now im just listening to it and j is commentating.

i have to mention that it is one of my dear best friend's (sista sista gansta gansta as we used to say freshman year) 23rd birthday. i remember celebrating her 19th birthday. oh she is getting so old. but i need you to know how dear to my heart she is and just how special she is. we have only been able to celebrate two birthdays on the day together because school and different things have kept us apart but we always find a way to celebrate it together.
lh- i hope you have had an amazing birthday and i cant wait for many more.

hello 19th birthday throw back picture.

this is us celebrating birthdays this fall.
my two best friends from college.
lesley ann and laura hunter

now on to the days activities.
when i got home from work, my lovely dear wanted to go to the park and walk and it was absolutely gorgeous today so i was more than willing. we still dont know where we are going around this gigantic town, so we took a little while trying to find the park. well, we were somewhat mistaken and didnt ever actually find it. so we ended up just driving and exploring, which i was happy with because my sunglasses were on and the windows were down and i was with my favorite person. luckily we stumbled across this gorgeous scene.
there were winding roads and deep valleys and brooks running through them. there was even a waterfall, inconveniently located on the other side of a no trespassing sign and the zoom lens didnt make it on this trip. (oh but it will when i have the new trusty camera bag). we just happen to stumble across it while the sun was going down- perfect timing! and we just loved enjoying God's beautiful creation. sadly we couldnt get back there if we tried. i never knew anything like this existed in our town, but the gps said this is the road we live off of. we are assuming pretty far away though.
may we be blessed with many more days just like this...
oh and go to redbox and rent that movie.

life lessons.

here you go friends!
the picture of the day.

okay more like the story of the night.
do you see all this laundry?
shamefully (very shamefully to our parents who are reading this!), i havent done laundry in a couple of weeks. commence the stoning. but i decided to do it tonight since i have spilt coffee on my clothes two days in a row, ugh- which is so typical. i blame it on the rain. so i separate our monstrous one pile of laundry (because hampers are to hide all the clothes when company comes over- j says i always show yall picture of things that are messy, our home really isnt messy!) and grab his clothes from yesterday and today.

"hey babe! i won a free book today!
oh, did you wash my pants i wore today."
"of course sweetie! they are clean and hanging up in your closet."
"well i guess i dont have a free book anymore."

say hello to the free book coupon that was hiding in his back pocket. ehhh...
yep those pieces of yellow paper below were supposed to be getting my husband a free book.
and trust me, free books to him are gold.
and if you have been keeping up, this isnt the first time i have done this.
looks like i got some making up to do.

so the life lesson is to check your husbands back pockets. got it!

ps... its supposed to be sunny and in the 60's tomorrow!

Monday, March 14, 2011

the westers shoes.

okay so i was having some trouble thinking of a picture for today.
see, i knew this would happen but not so soon! ahh.

there are pictures of many things i would love to post but sadly i didnt take them...
like maybe a picture of the sun, because in true Louisville fashion its raining again.
(the locals swear it has never rained this much.)
or maybe a picture of my friends and i at the lake, because who doesnt love warm weather and a lake.
or maybe just a screen shot of the bachelor tonight when he proposes to emily.
(oh dear heavens, if he does i seriously might cry. its a good thing im home by myself.)

so to find this amazing shot, my camera and i took a walk around our small apartment.
(maybe more curtain pictures... ehhh)
(maybe a picture of every monogram that is visible...
mercy! i would miss the bachelor.)

so this is my lame picture for the night...
if you look past those boots, especially the ones made for rain, and look on the shelf.
those gorgeous and well loved gold sandals are just screaming for my feet.
these darlings are my go-to summer shoe.
just code for i wear the everyday. i even wanted to wear them at our wedding!
(and sadly the green ones and white ones i have just like them dont even compare!)

but what this picture actually means is the obvious.
i could not be more ready for summer!

and just for fun...
lets compare shoe racks in the wester household.
haha he is so much neater than me.
(this is the part where our parents laugh.)
and i also think i need the 4 shelf one instead of the 3 shelf.

so now that you have inspected our shoe racks this evening... haha
hope you enjoyed the wester family picture of the day.
i promise tomorrow wont be in the closet.

now off to prepare for the bachelor! :)
aka clean the kitchen and adjust the satellite antenna.
yall just have no idea how excited i am.

and suggestions for future pictures are greatly appreciated!
