the craft bug has bitten me.

please tell me you would not love to make you some felt flowers.
perhaps for a wreath or a headband?

i have been in such a crafting mood today. my sister in law L would be so proud. i want to redo some furniture or make something. i need a cheap project. and by cheap, i mean cheaper than cheap.

now tell me you dont want to try these lovely suckers
im trying to think of where i could put them in our home.
i need a reason to make them.

so here are some pictures for today... we are going to eat with j's mentor and family tonight so im assuming i will not find something to shoot- and if i do i will post later tonight.

this necklace is genious! because i know you girls have many strands of pearls laying around. and you can easily find a brooch for a dollar or two at a thrift store.

how precious! i actually have an open frame around here that has been longing for a purpose!

(thanks to Christin at Carolina City Girl
i have discovered Pintrest and cant stop looking!)

OMG! i need this for my many necklaces.
(and i emphasize the word need for those of you who doubt me!)
world market has beautiful door knobs, for the record.

can you tell i really need a project?
well, i also need money to buy the materials.

i will make something this weekend.
and of course i will post pictures of the whole process.

im going to go get ready before my husband leaves me.
ps- i could not be more thankful that it is friday!

you lie like penny in a parking lot at the grocery store.

if you havent heard the band perry yet you should really check them out. pretty catchy... and fun fact for the night, j knows the drummer- who used to be the drummer for december radio. check them out too! and what ever happened to shedaisy...
"i will, i will, i will be your everythinggg"

okay enough of the music review.
we gotta get down to it.

i took these lovely pictures on the campus of southern today.
as you can see the weather is gorgeous.

i was supposed to be meeting my husband to go for a walk when he got off at 6 and we were supposed to be making homemade pizza for dinner (maybe you will see pictures of that tomorrow night). well, he had called me a bunch of times but i didnt hear it and by time i got to my phone what do you know the radio tower was off because the battery had gotten too low. now you say, m why dont you charge your phone at night? you see, i do. my blackberry is so old i have to charge it twice a day. (i hear voices in my head saying "you need an iphoneee...") anyway- i couldnt call him so i went and parked by his car thinking he would eventually come to it while my phone charged. that is when i couldnt help but whip the camera out. to make a long story short, i finally got some battery and called him and its a good thing because he was calling to say he had to work late. (in fact he just walked in the door) side note- he was setting up all the sound stuff and things that go along with that because JD Greear and Shane and Shane will be here this weekend. you bet im going to hear that awesome preaching and hopefully some north carolina accent! and of course some amazing music!

i should go spend some time with my husband since we have an hour together tonight. but ill leave you with this amazing project. i really want to try these very soon.
and i like how her husband helped her. do you think mine will? mhmm...

its almost friday loves!

i smell spring.

just for starters, my husband surprised me with a redbox tonight. he picked "the next three days" and omg, oh my word, dear heavens this movie will keep you on your toes the whole entire movie. it is stressing me out. i had to leave the room. but now im just listening to it and j is commentating.

i have to mention that it is one of my dear best friend's (sista sista gansta gansta as we used to say freshman year) 23rd birthday. i remember celebrating her 19th birthday. oh she is getting so old. but i need you to know how dear to my heart she is and just how special she is. we have only been able to celebrate two birthdays on the day together because school and different things have kept us apart but we always find a way to celebrate it together.
lh- i hope you have had an amazing birthday and i cant wait for many more.

hello 19th birthday throw back picture.

this is us celebrating birthdays this fall.
my two best friends from college.
lesley ann and laura hunter

now on to the days activities.
when i got home from work, my lovely dear wanted to go to the park and walk and it was absolutely gorgeous today so i was more than willing. we still dont know where we are going around this gigantic town, so we took a little while trying to find the park. well, we were somewhat mistaken and didnt ever actually find it. so we ended up just driving and exploring, which i was happy with because my sunglasses were on and the windows were down and i was with my favorite person. luckily we stumbled across this gorgeous scene.
there were winding roads and deep valleys and brooks running through them. there was even a waterfall, inconveniently located on the other side of a no trespassing sign and the zoom lens didnt make it on this trip. (oh but it will when i have the new trusty camera bag). we just happen to stumble across it while the sun was going down- perfect timing! and we just loved enjoying God's beautiful creation. sadly we couldnt get back there if we tried. i never knew anything like this existed in our town, but the gps said this is the road we live off of. we are assuming pretty far away though.
may we be blessed with many more days just like this...
oh and go to redbox and rent that movie.

life lessons.

here you go friends!
the picture of the day.

okay more like the story of the night.
do you see all this laundry?
shamefully (very shamefully to our parents who are reading this!), i havent done laundry in a couple of weeks. commence the stoning. but i decided to do it tonight since i have spilt coffee on my clothes two days in a row, ugh- which is so typical. i blame it on the rain. so i separate our monstrous one pile of laundry (because hampers are to hide all the clothes when company comes over- j says i always show yall picture of things that are messy, our home really isnt messy!) and grab his clothes from yesterday and today.

"hey babe! i won a free book today!
oh, did you wash my pants i wore today."
"of course sweetie! they are clean and hanging up in your closet."
"well i guess i dont have a free book anymore."

say hello to the free book coupon that was hiding in his back pocket. ehhh...
yep those pieces of yellow paper below were supposed to be getting my husband a free book.
and trust me, free books to him are gold.
and if you have been keeping up, this isnt the first time i have done this.
looks like i got some making up to do.

so the life lesson is to check your husbands back pockets. got it!

ps... its supposed to be sunny and in the 60's tomorrow!

the westers shoes.

okay so i was having some trouble thinking of a picture for today.
see, i knew this would happen but not so soon! ahh.

there are pictures of many things i would love to post but sadly i didnt take them...
like maybe a picture of the sun, because in true Louisville fashion its raining again.
(the locals swear it has never rained this much.)
or maybe a picture of my friends and i at the lake, because who doesnt love warm weather and a lake.
or maybe just a screen shot of the bachelor tonight when he proposes to emily.
(oh dear heavens, if he does i seriously might cry. its a good thing im home by myself.)

so to find this amazing shot, my camera and i took a walk around our small apartment.
(maybe more curtain pictures... ehhh)
(maybe a picture of every monogram that is visible...
mercy! i would miss the bachelor.)

so this is my lame picture for the night...
if you look past those boots, especially the ones made for rain, and look on the shelf.
those gorgeous and well loved gold sandals are just screaming for my feet.
these darlings are my go-to summer shoe.
just code for i wear the everyday. i even wanted to wear them at our wedding!
(and sadly the green ones and white ones i have just like them dont even compare!)

but what this picture actually means is the obvious.
i could not be more ready for summer!

and just for fun...
lets compare shoe racks in the wester household.
haha he is so much neater than me.
(this is the part where our parents laugh.)
and i also think i need the 4 shelf one instead of the 3 shelf.

so now that you have inspected our shoe racks this evening... haha
hope you enjoyed the wester family picture of the day.
i promise tomorrow wont be in the closet.

now off to prepare for the bachelor! :)
aka clean the kitchen and adjust the satellite antenna.
yall just have no idea how excited i am.

and suggestions for future pictures are greatly appreciated!

we got curtains day.

and the picture of the day is...
our friends enjoying my salsa! yay!
(pre-curtains)

(i also just decided that this is going to be short because the computer is acting up)

but im now going to show you one of the things i found at the wonderful peddlers mall yesterday.

these lovely curtains!
they match so well! i couldnt believe it.
but please ignore the fact that i didnt iron these before i put them up.
my mother would be so disappointed.

(i had previously bought the sheers along with the other curtains below at a yard sale.
i figured i would be able to use them somehow.)

so today, my lovely husband ventured out with me to use some of his gift cards he got at his "man shower" to buy curtain rods. and boy did we not know what we were in store for. shopping for them rods is hard, let me tell you! and he was getting semi restless. but after we found the curtain rods- home depot hides those suckers good!- and then picked them out- those suckers are expensive!- we went home so i could put them up. needless to say J was worried about his drill and he quickly took it away and put the rods up for me. but he told me it was my turn when he was done.

what is cost to "curtain" two 87 inch windows:
(just a money tally for those budget conscious people out there- aka J)
yard sale curtains (6 sheer panels and 2 linen panels)- $20
peddlers mall polka dot panels- $14.75
curtain rods-$74.14 (on a gift card= free)
for a grand total of
$34.75

this is just to show you how much better it looks with curtains!
i know you all agree.

once again- hope yall enjoyed sunday aka the last day of this very short weekend.
and i hope the word curtains doesnt look funny to you now, because it does to me.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

i hope you rode with your windows down today.

instead of posting just one picture, i decided to post many and tell you what i did all day. well i didnt sleep in this morning and no it was not because the lady upstairs was vacuuming at 8 or her son was running a marathon in their two bedroom apartment...
im really not sure why i woke up.
but because i woke up early i got to enjoy the sunshine even longer.

and i finally got time to make myself a cute header.
ya see...
hope you like!

i decided that since j wasnt home i would take over his space.
this is also my grocery list.

after i got ready, i went adventuring to a place called peddlers mall. if you live in this area and have never been, i highly advise it. i was in there two hours today just walking around. it is basically a huge inside yard sale. and when i say huge i mean i wish i would have taken bread crumbs to mark the places i had already walked through. i called my mom to ask her some questions and she was highly jealous of my adventure.
i will post pictures later of what i got. its very exciting.

so i officially declared today mexican food day.

first on the menu... homemade salsa!
yes, i know many of you are shocked that i even attempted. but i did!

here is proof...
my official taste tester said it was dead on.

and for dinner we had enchiladas.
my dear friend kelly from louisville gave me the recipe.
(who also informed me about the peddlers mall)

here is the recipe in case you wanted it.

packet of enchilada mix
1 lb. ground beef
tortillas
cheese

make enchilada mix as instructed on package.
Ground beef.
(this part is messy but SO worth it)
Dip tortilla in enchilada mix
Spoon in ground beef and cheese. (be generous with cheese!)
Roll and place facedown in dish.
Repeat until pan is filled or ingredients gone.
Pour any remaining "sauce" over the enchiladas in pan.
Top with cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35 min.

Serve with tortilla chips and salsa, or mexican rice! Super yummy!

the official taste tester also approved these!
so now that we are well fed, we cashed in another redbox opportunity (we had to pay for this one) and its definitely girl movie night- we take turns to be fair- so we will be watching Morning Glory as soon as my lovely darling cleans the kitchen.
"the one who cooks doesnt have to clean".
it somehow always comes out in my favor. :)

dont forget to set your clocks forward tonight!
this means the "everyday warm weather" is right around the corner.
praise the Lord!

oh- and was anyone else bummed that greys was replaced with a game show!
seriously? not cool ABC.

hope yall enjoyed your saturday as much as i did.

ps- any suggestions on making this thing cute?
im not very good at it.
